Meeting Minutes 02/21/18

Second to last meeting! The stress is on as we reach the middle of crunch week. We’re working to the very last second!

Duncan- fixed the Engineering section of the notebook. Practiced new speech.

Troy – Worked on notebook, and helped with the glyph holder arm.  sighed up to be a scout at the competition.

Kavin- worked on notebook, uploaded all photos for all sections on K-bot, wrote new entries for CAD section(roller wheels and spacers) and uploaded the according photos.

Katie- Outreach Impact sections of the notebook

Igor- Worked in the Engineering notebook

Isaac – Finished writing up for the Control Award on the main form and a summary page also. Also made a google form for the Pit Scouting.

Andrew – Got the tele-op code to pretty much completion. Finished up collection of blocks. Just need to add dropping blocks off at the top.

Kai- Extensive clean up on engineering notebook

Meeting Minutes 02/20/18

First meeting of crunch week! We hit the ground running, starting right after school all the way till 9pm! Software is getting the bot prepped for the drivers, and judging panel is mastering their speeches once again. With four days till states, there’s not a second to waste!

Kavin- Worked on CAD parts of the design notebook. Added photos of development of grabbers, explanation of limit switch mount, and next gen-predesign assembly on CAD.

Kara- Fixed an error in the autonomous code, worked on my judging speech and memorized the kryptobox keys.

Mira-I worked on attaching a servo to the glyph box in order to hold the glyphs. We only had enough space to fit it on one side. Then I worked on judging.

Erin-Worked on editing the engineering notebook and helped the judging group.

Troy – Worked on a holder to block the glyphs from falling off the lift when putting them on the top to parts of the cryptobox

Isaac – Worked on finishing the control award. Got most of the way through the standard form.

Igor – Fixed the problems on the CAD of the phone support.

Logan – I tested the BlueStone1 code, but the navx had issues connecting. I also practiced my judgment speech.

Andrew – I worked on the code for the lift, and to reset it. I also worked on the code for set the position of the lift, so that we can collect blocks better.

Rohan – Put updated photos in the engineering notebook

John – Worked on judging for the robotics did at least 3 presentation and worked on the notebook a little.

Kai- updated judging speech and practiced with judging panel


Meeting Minutes 02/17/18

The last Saturday before States! Crunch time is upon us, and we’re hunkering down! Next Gen is up and running, bug testing and final tweaking are happening as we speak! Our members our dedicated to making sure our robot is top notch!

Kai- Revisted judging speech and started improving. Started side panel designs

Kara- Worked on organizing wires on robot and edited some of the notebook and practiced speech.

John.W-  Swapped out the motor because we deduced it was broke. Worked on the engineering notebook.

Duncan – fished the wiring  for NextGen and worked on the engineering notebook

Isaac – Worked on the engineering notebook. Wrote a paragraph about Git branches.

Logan – Created a wiring diagram of NextGen. I began enabling everything on NextGen too.

Andrew – Worked on code for the NextGen’s lift. Also worked on the engineering notebook.

Andersen Xue – Reviewed notebook and made sure everything was fixed. Also made a more realistic picture of the NextGen controller.

Mira – I worked on finishing some wiring. Updated the engineering notebook for the 3D printed parts and lift. I worked on writing my judging speech.

Igor – Finished building in CAD the phone slide and support.

Troy – Worked on the NextGen part of the engineering notebook.  Looked at the speeches.


Meeting Minutes 02/15/18

We celebrated Valentines early so that we could take a sweet break on Wednesday, but that doesn’t mean we can relax! This is the second to last meeting this week before we kick into States overdrive! Next gen is coming together better then ever, and judging speeches as well as updates in the engineering notebook have been contribute heavily. We want to be as prepared as possible so that next week is nothing but Practice, Practice, Practice!

Kara- I worked on my judging speech and also I worked on checking the notebook for Think Award criteria. I also added information to the Boxy page of the notebook.

Kai- More tweaks in the engineering sections of the notebook, directed further progress on notebook entries. Helped briefly with a cardboard prototype.

Anthony- Helped out with removing filaments from 3D printed parts, coated the parts with some spray. I also decided to start learning how to make 3D parts on Auto-desk.

Logan – Finalized my judging speech and made a list of the things we have done in software since the last competition. Helped wire up the robot.

Andrew – Worked on the engineering notebook. Added the nextgen prep list to the engineering notebook. I also helped fix a git error. Worked on the code for blue stone 2.

Duncan- worked on mounting the electronics to the side panel and started wiring everything together.

Danielle- Made an online version of the Holonomic Diagram for the notebook. Wrote reflections for the notebook.

Ayaan- Worked on wiring of the bot as well as cable management

Isaac – Resolved merge errors and successfully pushed my code. Began red stone 2 full integration creation.

Igor – New design for the phone support in CAD.

Troy – Attached the second WOE and the switch for the battery

John- Worked on the cable management of the robot.


Meeting Minutes 02/13/18

The week before States keeps everyone working hard. After another extra Monday meeting, we’re getting closer to adding the final touches on our Next Gen robot. Software has made great progress and is now debugging as much as possible. Check out our progress this meeting below!

Kai- Reworked engineering section of Engineering notebook to have better flow. Also began adding information where needed.

Erin- Started redesigning hand out cards for competition.

Logan – Finished the software notebook boy creating the test section. Finalized my judging speech. Also helped wire the next generation robot.

John. W-  Helped Mira with the side panel and installed some of the motor hubs. Didn’t quite get the robot done for software, butt we have time. Thinking about drivers and coaches.

Andrew – Worked on the engineering notebook. Also worked on the new autonomous mode for blue stone 2.

Kavin- Worked on cutting  Makerbeams for the side panel and attached them to the panel and mounted electronics mounts onto the plate and attached the main electronics controller onto the plate.

Duncan –  worked on the left side panel attachment  and helped organize where the electronics will go.

Mira- I worked on mounting the electronics to the side panels. I also worked on containing the wires.

Troy – Helped Duncan, Mira and John with bot building

Ayaan- Finished scouting sheet

Isaac – Finalized the integration of DogeCV + Vuforia into Red alliance stone 1 and Blue alliance stone 1. Worked out most bugs in both, and seems to have solved the “dancing kbot” navx bug encountered earlier.


Meeting Minutes 2/12/18

Ayaan- Finalized scouting spreadsheet by adding more detail to the autonomous scoring section and helped problem solving for the battery placement on the new bot

Kavin- Worked on drilling holes on the plastic side plates on the robot for the main mounting and electronics mounting. Also worked on determining locations for electronics mounting on side plates.

Isaac – Worked on some of the intricacies of the fully integrated op-modes. Discovered that our integrated Blue-1 op-mode acts like red-2 when run (today at least).

Angel – Worked on Plexiglass box for the glyphs and worked on the notebooks

Logan – Found a solution to the problem of the Plexiglass cage flexing. I started fabricating a frame out of maker beam.

John- Found a new way to mount the battery holder, also mounted the main power switch. Worked with Coach Thompson to mount the servo controller.

Meeting Minutes 02/10/18

This Saturday meeting was one step closer to completing the build. The Engineering Notebook is being updated tremendously as we near our final design. After weeks of trial and error, we’re nearing success!

Ayaan- Worked on notebook chassis section and how it has changed since Orange County

Duncan- improved the ramp on the collector system by providing input on the ramps flaws like the fact that it was to narrow.

Isaac – Wrote in the notebook about servos and our general Autonomous procedure. Created a flowchart about the Autonomous procedure part and put it in the notebook.

Kara- Worked on creating a frame for our electronics to go in.

Igor- Worked on CAD design for the phone support.

John.W –  Coordinated the lunch today. Cleaned the poly-carb with Kai. Changed some details on the notebook.

Logan – Fixed BoxD so we can drive it now. We also finished the notebook.

Kai- Began reorganizing notebook for better flow and graphic design. Also briefly provided input on ramp, as well as cleaning off old poly-carb for re-use.

Meeting Minutes 02/08/18

After a relaxing snow day off yesterday, the <C://> Hawks return to engineer our latest mechanisms. As we approach our States deadline, scouting forms and the grand Engineering Workbook have begun to have new information and design added.

Ayaan- Worked on disassembly and worked on new scoring sheet for scouting.

Andrew –  Worked on the notebook. Pretty much finished Vuforia section.

Isaac – Wrote in the notebook. Contributed to Servos, NavX, DogeCV, Git, and Vuforia sections.

John.W- For most of the meeting  I dedicated my time to color coordinating the allen wrenches, using the most efficient method. Helped with mounting the grabber arms.

Duncan. M- Worked on the mounting  the collecting system for the robot, drank that good ol fashion Arizona iced green tea with ginseng and honey with only 25g of sugar per can its almost irresistible  to any  above / below (but mostly below) average Irishmen

Logan – Today I worked on the notebook. I revised most of the beginning, and created a section about comments. I also began a section on how Github works together with Slack.

Igor – worked on the side panels ( new design )

Mira –  Worked with Igor to design the side panels and work around the side arm and other parts. We decided we will have two panels on one side and have the electronics in between.

Angel – Finished collector mechanism

Meeting Minutes 02/06/18

On top of an extra meeting on Monday, the <C://> Hawks continued work!

Duncan – added a bar at the bottom to support the lift, general maintenance on the robot.

Isaac – Began working on the Software section of the Engineering Notebook. Added passages about the SourceTree program as well as the work I did on the NavX sensor.

Kavin- in-+talled lift stop on robot, helped make new roller mounts for roller prototype, determine momentary switch locations on chassis and started to design a mount for them in CAD.

Andersen – Worked on the Motors section of the Engineering Notebook and explained servos. Marked up GamePad controllers in Teleop section of notebook.

Andrew – Worked on the Engineering notebook. Starting work on the NextGen Code

Katie Wagner – Made another page in the notebook

John- Worked on the robot by inspecting for loose screws, oppurtunties to put in nylon locking nuts, lock-tite, and re-enforcing bars. We ended up putting in one bar near the front. Lifter made a weird noise when Kaven accidentally put it down on max power, hopefully that isnt a problem.

Logan – I made the notebook section for DogeCV today. I started making BoxD work, I crated the hardware file, but I ran into an error.

Mira- I made a new intake mount for the C channels to allow for our new idea.

Troy – Worked on the lift.

Igor- Worked on the electronics supports.

Meeting Minutes 02/03/18

An early but fantastic Saturday morning for the <C://> Hawks! Lots of fresh fruit, coffee, donuts and more were brought by parents and students alike! After a morning of hard work, we relaxed with pizza for lunch and a lovely home-baked cake for dessert.

At the end of the meeting was the parents meeting! We invited student’s parents to stop by and observe our robot demonstration as well learn more about the logistics of states competition.


John: Captained the team today. Made a quick speech to the parents and worked on the chain.


Duncan- worked on the new beta bot. Attempted to break chain with an awl and a hammer.

Ayaan- I worked on Engineering Notebook: The wheel section as well as the gear section

Mira- I planned out the left side electronics wall. We are making it in two parts, so we can have the jewel arm in between . I also added the jewel arm to the next gen bot.

Andersen- I  edited the FTC Notebook to include Troy. I also added the Next-gen bot design in a document along with its motors and servos.

Kavin- I worked on building an elastic-reinforcement system for the block grabbers and helped build chassis for new next gen robot.

Igor- I worked on the next gen robot also helping with the elastic- reinforcement system.

Isaac – Completed integration of DogeCV and Vuforia. More tweaks, especially on the turning, required.

Angel – Mounted motor gearbox on Next-gen robot.

Troy – Put on wheel and reinforced the frame.

Logan – Created a program to zero the lift mechanism on the next generation chassis. I also worked on the Github section of the engineering notebook

Kai- Fixed the motor tester with Erin
